Archive As Artistic Practice documents artistic works created by researchers an d students in response to materials in the Flaxman Library Special Collections. Beginning with the event "Adrift in the Archive," which took place in the Special Collections during the library’s February 2015 campus-wide Bibliodérive, this collection explores the library’s place at the intersection of artistic practice and archival documentation. Rather than an attempt to breathe life back into recordings of ephemeral events, this collection demonstrates that the past provides a fertile base for the growth of something entirely new. The SAIC community is invited to explore, translate, perform, and re-classify our collections by creating unique knowledge maps and visual access points at future events.
