The first time I got pulled over
Written by Kayla McClain and Justin Howard Rosier, illustrated by Kyla Thomas, the book refers to topics/concepts of racial profiling and police attitudes towards people of color. The book focuses on its affect on young children. "A story about a father and son getting pulled over by the police, and the aftermath proves to be a challenge for the both of them. The book was created to illustrate the struggles that minorities are currently facing in America and also creates an environment for this discussion among the family.."--From artist's website (artbykayla.org)
