Our ritualized animality and the semiotics of fashion
A oversize archival box, wrapped with faux fur, sprayed with Nasomatto Black Afgano perfume. "This work explores the ways the signifers of animality are used in human--animal self--fashion. The fur is molted after a season, speaking the fashion cycles as well as ongoing process of mutation and animal becoming. This object may be worn by readers and/or displayed draped over the box as a plinth, as we are being 'read' more traditionally."--From the artist's statement.
