H l ne Cixous Ex-cities
Hélène Cixous ex-cities; Ex-cities
Conceptual work exploring the idea of translation, an attempt to enter into dialogue directly with Cixous' original text on the notion of 'exile,' to reconstruct and deconstruct the text by taking over, slowly. Whole passages from Cixous' writing are omitted, and the artist restates, recombines, and inserts her own texts and experience of exile. Cixious has written about the role of translation existing as its own work of art, separate from the original source. She also has called for a greater degree of intervention as it relates to translating texts. This is my intervention.; The book incorporates photographs, and type-written text passages.
