U-barn: a short film by Oyvind Fahlstrom
A short film by Oyvind Fahlstrom
Three booklets accompany the first DVD edition of Oyvind Fahlström's short film U-BARN from 1968. These booklets include an essay on the film, an interview with production manager Stefan Jarl, and images and documents relating to the film's production in Sweden. Also included are transcripts of the film's dialogue track, as conventional subtitling would not suit Fahlström's complex sound work, "which actively resists a normalizing treatment." U-BARN is considered his "most experimental film," featuring dialogue that is extremely literal and embedded in contexts of learning and protest. Text in English with some dialogue in Swedish.
