Thank you for sharing: collected writings of art students in Chicago
Collected writings of art students in Chicago
The author collected writings found saved on public access computers in art institutions and colleges in Chicago. Texts are compiled anonymously and in uniform font, categorized under the topics of culture, economy, environment, human resources, literature, philosophy, politics, sex and gender. The author states that the book "is an attempt to reenact the process of relocating appropriated cultural collections to museums from countries invaded and ruled by colonial rulers," using the ethnography museum as an example of how to present artifacts for a consuming audience while denying original authorship.--Statement from the artist. Text in English with some Korean.
