Photograph of a man in glasses in front of four women used in promotional material for Lawrence Steger's piece "The Marriage or Story of Sisters," performed at the Randolph Street Gallery, May 2-3, 1986. Photograph was in a folder dated "May 2nd" with other materials from the event. Photo credit: John Flores.</br>"On Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, RSG proudly presents a major new work "The Marriage Or Story of Sisters" by Lawrence Steger. "Sisters" is a multi-media piece that examines the relationship of four siblings by exposing their individual psychologies. As the narrator/director leads the audience through the "story", he provides a commentary on the conventions and manipulations of refused actions. The acceptance or refusal by the "actresses" of their assigned roles stands as a parallel to the sisters' response to their tragedian fate.</br> "Lawrence Steger is a performance artist who has worked extensively in Chicago and New York in group and solo performances. He has worked in a number of different art forms, including music, installation, theatre, and movement, and incorporates elements of each into his performance art. His last major Chicago performance was "Act One Ana-tomy Act Two Anatomy" at Bedrock Gallery in December 1985." --[Source: Event calendar -- May/June 1986]
