Parts from an installation by Rath that decorated the facade of Randolph Street Gallery. The work was created for the exhibition "Profiles," May 6-June 11, 1994. "'Red Fascia' formally changes the profile of RSG and consequently recontextualizes it. The project appropriates the graphs and grids essential to the modernist project and infuses them with the life blood of ritual and celebration. It translates the architecture of the gallery as containment to the architecture as object. This paradigm shift differentiates the clad field facade from the modernist color field investigation and serves to question how we identify with contemporary art and the places that house it." Photograph of Oleson's "Boxer" 1994, Ilfochrome print. The work was part of the exhibition "Profiles" at Randolph Street Gallery, May 6-June 11, 1994. "The boxer pieces deal with the complications of a female body taking onto itself a machismo role and through this, brings up issues of what we perceive to be grotesque. The female body coming into one of the most masculine stereotypes creates an uncomfortable identity that is frightening to the general public. The Wonder White Bread set does a round in the gallery."
